Please note that our fixed fee for is for an undefended petition. If the other party decides to oppose your petition then our hourly rate applies for any additional work involved. It is unusual for a petition to be defended because of the additional cost involved and the general view that if a marriage or civil partnership is over, it is over.

Our fixed fee does not include advice or negotiations about property or a financial settlement, but does include initial advice about arrangements for the children to enable a statement to be filed with the petition.

Any further advice or instructions on property and finances, or about the children, is provided at our fair fees hourly rate. We would be happy to discuss any of these concerns with you after agreeing our hourly rate based on your gross income.

Behr & Co Law Practice Fair Fees Policy

From April 2013 Behr & Co Law Practice introduced a transparent fees structure for family law where there are no savings or capital assets available for legal fees. We have now extended this to include civil litigation and employment matters where suitable.
The hourly rate you pay for your lawyer will depend upon your own gross family income. This is defined as all your household income before tax from every source i.e. earnings, benefits and maintenance. If you are a couple it includes both of you unless your partner is your opponent in the case. We would require full documentary evidence before agreeing our reduced hourly rates by way of :
P60(s) plus last 3 months pay slips plus 3 months bank/building society statements for each and every account plus up to date benefits letter(s).
Please send us or hand in your documents to your lawyer and we will be happy to undertake the calculation for you.
