Happy Birthday!
November this year marks 30 years of Behr & Co solicitors in Brynmawr. Behr & Co took over from Emmanuel Marks & Cocker, who had a law practice on our site dating back to the 1950s. We first came into being in 1996 thanks to our founding partner Sonia Behr, who employed Andrew Campbell as her partner. Sonia retired in 2014 when Jason Hall and Rhiannon James became partners. Andrew became a consultant in 2023.
The past 30 years has seen a lot of change, with Behr & Co being busier than ever. We have seen 10 Prime Ministers and 19 Lord Chancellors come and go. We were once one of six law firms in Brynmawr and, unlike most, have been able to rely on our loyal clients and our solid reputation to maintain and improve the service we have provided to families in Blaenau Gwent, and further afield.Our new cohort of solicitors and trainee solicitors secures that service into the future.
January 2026
We are proud to have been once again invited to visit University of South Wales Law department to deliver a guest lecture to undergraduate students. This will be the sixth year in a row where our Jason Hall has been invited to the university, to help students gain real world experience of legal practice and to help them develop their skills and inspire and grow the next generation of legal professionals.
March 2025
We are delighted to announce our new colleague Ethan Jones has joined our practice. Ethan is an enthusiastic and thoughtful trainee solicitor who has just completed his undergraduate law degree and is working in both our Family and Conveyancing teams. Welcome aboard!
February 2025
This year we are again working in collaboration with the University of South Wales in offering undergraduate and post-graduate students the opportunity of gaining valuable work experience and finding out what it is like to work in a busy High Street law practice. We are pleased to be able to offer USW two placement opportunities this year, hopefully guiding the next generation of young lawyers in South Wales!

Our offices will be closed for the Christmas break from 5.00 pm on Thursday 23rd December 2021 until 9.00 am on Tuesday 4th January 2022.
Our offices will also be closed from 12.30 pm on Wednesday 22nd December 2021 but re-opening on Thursday 23rd December 2021 at 9.00 am. Behr & Co Law Practice wishes you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022.
At Behr & Co Law Practice our chosen charity this Christmas is Four Seasons based in Tredegar, who as well as offer boarding and hydrotherapy also take in rescue dogs. Our office has a box and our staff will be working hard to get as many donations as possible. All local donations are very gratefully received.
Let’s make Christmas a happy one for all the dogs at Four Seasons.

Family Solicitor/ Legal Executive Vacancy.
We are looking for a Family Solicitor/Legal Executive to take over an existing case load of private and family legal aid matters.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing a varied caseload to include:
Divorce, Separation, ancillary relief, children matters, financial proceedings, TOLATA claims, Prenuptial agreements, civil partnership disputes, and domestic abuse.
A focus on exceptional client care and ability to conduct own advocacy is essential.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor via SRA or Legal Executive via CILEx with 1year + PQE minimum. However we will consider individuals with extensive experience of handling full mixed caseload of family law files.
- 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays plus an additional loyalty annual leave day each 5 years of service.
- Family friendly working and home working available.
- Salary bonus: It is a one-off bonus of 20% of anything over target in the proceeding year. This one-off bonus may be consolidated into the fee earner’s salary if targets are exceeded for two years.

Corona Virus Covid-19 update from Behr & Co.
We are all aware of the current health concerns brought about by Covid-19 Corona Virus. The Government has advised us all to avoid unnecessary outings and unnecessary contact with each other. We at Behr & Co are concerned that many of our clients are in vulnerable groups.
Given this Government advice, I am sure that you will understand the need to be careful about clients visiting our offices until we can be more assured of our mutual safety. We do not want to put your health at risk and we have no doubt that you will not want us to expose us to risk, which may jeopardise the services which we provide.
Should you need to contact us, please do so initially by telephone. You can discuss with your solicitor whether we need a face to face visit.
Court cases will go ahead in the usual way until we hear further news from the Government – we shall keep you posted.
In the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. We are grateful for your forbearance during this unprecedented time.
